Good Evening from Kenya. We had a really good day and reached a level of 46 feet. Still no water but we could almost smell it. We are quite confident that the remaining team will reach it in the next day or so. So, I'm hoping to hear from them by the time we reach NYC on Wednesday evening that they have set the pump and pumping water.
After my morning post, we had another pastor that I met last year with the RSI team that drove 31/2 hours to come see what we were doing. Pastor Martin Shikuku from Eldoret was all excited and wants us to come to his church and drill a well as soon as possible. It sounds like a really good place to go as the water table is only 12 feet down. So, we should be able to drill a well there in a matter of two days. Brother Joseph has been receiving calls for the last few days from all over Kenya as the word has been spreading. We are overwhelmed by the response and believing that God is paving the way for many more chances to return.
Probably the highlight of the day is the gift I received from the Elder of the village. It is customary to give a gift to a person that has done a great favor. So, I am officially the owner of my own goat!! Yes, a goat and I have pictures to prove it. Now, I haven't figured out just how to get it home plus I don't think Denise will be too thrilled to have a goat as a house pet. So, I've had to pay someone in the village to care for my goat until I return. It will be worth much more then, anyway. We've gotten a good laugh over this. I'll try and post a picture but still having trouble downloading them to the blog.
Tonight will be our last night for three of us. Tomorrow morning, we take a 7 hour bus ride back to Niarobi and fly out Wednesday morning for NY and then on home on Thursday. I really want to thank you again for your prayers, your thoughts, your messages of encouragement. They have been a blessing to me as well as the rest of the team.
I'll update any news that may be relevant before I return. So, check in later.
Have a blessed night.
What??? You're not bringing the goat?! I could put it to work eating the weeds (and everything else) in my flower beds.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great report, even though not everything went as planned. I'm especially excited about the one decision for Christ that you mentioned on yesterday's post. And it sounds like God is opening other doors for ongoing ministry. Awesome!
